Transformation Series

Maritza Rivera is an independent author and speaker based in New York City. For years, she has been developing a book series focused on bringing transformation to people’s lives, explaining the Kingdom of God in accessible, warm, and approachable language, designed especially for those who are new to this world.

She came to me through a personal referral, and when we first connected, she already had the first two volumes of the series in print. The challenge was evident: the books existed, the message was powerful, but visually, they weren’t communicating the depth and value of what they held inside. There was no cohesive identity across the volumes, the covers didn’t reflect the essence of the content, and the overall presentation wasn’t matching the reach Maritza was aiming for: selling on platforms like Amazon and distributing her work at international conferences.

We began with the third book. When Maritza saw the result, the interior structure, the layout style, the attention to detail, and the new cover direction, she made an important decision: she wanted the entire series to feel like one unified collection. She asked me to re-layout the first two volumes and refresh their covers, but with one very specific condition: no drastic changes that would confuse readers who already knew them. The goal was to refine and elevate, not reinvent.

By the time we reached the fourth and final book, Maritza gave me full creative freedom on the cover, trusting the visual language we had built together, while keeping the same interior layout system across all four volumes, so the series would read as a cohesive visual sequence without losing the essence that defines it.

The result was a four-book series unified visually and conceptually: available on Amazon with a professional image, present at international conferences with materials that truly carry the message, and with an Instagram presence that is more polished, intentional, and aligned with the world Maritza builds through her writing.

Layout & Typesetting

The arrangement of text, images, and graphic elements across each page was carefully determined to create a design that is both visually pleasing and functionally clear.

The opening style of each chapter was designed to feel simple yet warm, inviting first-time readers into this space without ever feeling out of place, from the very first page.

Cover Design

The author wanted the cover to capture the essence of the content in a single, striking image. A combination of mappainting techniques and clean line illustration was used, reflecting the meeting of the physical and spiritual realms in a harmonious, intentional way, consistent with the interior’s art direction and concept.

The same visual direction was carried through to the English-language edition of the third volume.

Así mismo, se mantuvo el mismo diseño de portada y diagramación para la versión en inglés del libro.

Cover Redesign

After seeing the third book’s result, the author chose to refresh the first two volumes already in circulation. The same interior layout concept and chapter illustration style were maintained, while the covers were updated to unify the typography and visual identity across the series, without erasing the recognition they had already built among existing readers.

Fourth Book in the Series

In 2024, work began on the fourth and final volume, which introduced new sections and expanded content. For this book, the cover was given full creative freedom, leaning into a pure mappainting style: a visual evolution that closes the series with strength and intention.

Social Media Design

Reels with book animations and carousel designs were created for the author’s Instagram account, building a more polished and visually coherent presence aligned with the series’ message.

The animation sequences and soundtrack selection were crafted to frame each book launch as something epic, worthy of the content it introduces.
